GROWING UP—MIDDLE SCHOOL
The CCS middle school program is primarily concerned with expanding the educational horizons of your child in preparation for our college preparatory high school. We continue to utilize that rich soil and those strong roots of our lower school programs. The integrating core of every curricular and extracurricular program is still love for God and love for others. The challenges your child faces during these years may be new and bewildering, but the climate and aim of our program is still to partner with you to help your child grow in the faith, hope, and love of Jesus Christ.
Here the curriculum fully expands to include major instruction in Bible, grammar and composition, literature, pre-Algebra and Algebra, specialized sciences, US History and Western Civilization, foreign languages, physical education, the fine arts, performing arts (chorus, instrumentals, and drama), technology, and a wide array of clubs and extracurricular offerings. It is during these fun years that your child is able to grow up rapidly, thriving in new space because of the soil prepared and roots developed in our lower school programs.
Co-curricular Programs:
- Community service projects
- Daily chapel
- Student government
- 13 extracurricular clubs
- Interscholastic sports programs
- US History trip to Boston
- Science camps
These “growing up” years are often labeled as some of the toughest years of a child’s life. At CCS, it is our aim and our experience that middle school can be a delightful time of social and personal growth in faith, hope, and love as well as academic prowess. You will find the CCS middle school experience unlike any other in helping pre-teen and young adolescent children grow in a way that honors God by learning to accept each others’ differences and to love others unconditionally, one of the key spiritual developmental goals of our middle school program.
Your child will graduate to our college preparatory high school having grown into a mature young adult, ready to contribute to a community of learners rooted in a Christian worldview, a Christian ethic, and a faith-based curiosity and anticipation of where God will lead them for college and careers that will make a difference for Christ.
